CitizenshipTests.org Engineering and Science Scholarship

    THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS OPEN ONLY TO LEGAL RESIDENTS OF CANADA AND THE 50 UNITED STATES AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN.

    1. ELIGIBILITY

    The CitizenshipTests.org Engineering and Science Scholarship (Scholarship) is open to legal residents of Canada and the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who, at the time of entry are: Undergraduate college or university students (or the equivalent thereof) who are currently attending a Canadian or U.S. accredited college or university in Engineering or Science at their 3rd or final year of study. Entrants into the scholarship must meet the required criteria. Potential winners must be able to present proof of eligibility and failure to provide proof may result in disqualification. Immediate family members (children, siblings) of employees of CitizneshipTests.org or their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, and advertising and promotional agencies and anyone involved in the development, production, distribution of materials for, judging or coordination of this Scholarship, and persons living in the same household of such employees whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win.

    2. SCHOLARSHIP PERIOD

    The Scholarship application will be accepted until April 30, 2021 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET.

    3. HOW TO ENTER

    TO ENTER, COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS: Step 1: Submit a cover letter telling us how you’ve contributed to your campus or community through extracurricular activities or volunteer work. Step 2: Review and accept the Official Rules of the Scholarship. Step 3: Submit an unofficial transcript with your application Step 4: Provide two (2) written academic references

    4. JUDGING CRITERIA

    All eligible entries will be judged on the following equally weighted criteria (Judging Criteria) by a qualified panel of judges:

    • Community or campus involvement
    • Academic References
    • Grade Point Average

     

    5. WINNER NOTIFICATION AND VERIFICATION

    The potential winning Entrants will be notified on or about June 1, 2021 via the phone number and/or email address provided by the Entrant during registration. The potential winning Entrant must execute and return to CitizenshipTests.org within five (5) business days after the date of receipt or other date specified by CitizenshipTests.org (i) an affidavit of eligibility; and (ii) a liability release. If any potential winning Entrant is under the age of majority in the province/territory, or state in which he/she resides, then the parents or legal guardian of the potential winning Entrant must execute and return the Releases. If the potential winner (i) cannot be reached or does not respond to notification within forty-eight (48) hours, (ii) fails to sign and return a completely executed set of Releases within the designated time period, or (iii) fails to comply with these Official Rules, the potential winner may be disqualified, in the sole discretion of CitizenshipTests.org, and in such case will forfeit the prize. If a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, then CitizenshipTests.org will choose the Entrant with the next highest score as the alternate potential winner. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of the Entrant, entry will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person who is assigned to the email address by an internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses or the domain associated with the submitted email address. Potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder.

    6. PRIZE

    One (1) winning Entrant will receive a $1,000 USD or $1,300 CAD scholarship depending on the country they reside.

    7. PRIZE CONDITIONS

    The scholarship will be awarded in the form of a check and must be used solely toward the fees (including supplies) for attending an accredited Canadian or U.S. college or university. PRIZE WINNING ENTRANTS ARE LIABLE FOR ALL TAXES IN CONNECTION WITH ANY PRIZE AWARDED HEREUNDER. Winning Entrant hereby agrees and acknowledges that CitizenshipTests.org may be required to prepare an IRS Form 1099 for Entrant and supply such information (which may include photo identification, birth date, and social security number) to the local, state and federal taxing agency in accordance with all applicable laws. In the event of a waiver or forfeiture of a prize, CitizenshipTests.org reserves the right to substitute such prize with another prize of equal or greater value, as determined by CitizenshipTests.org in its sole discretion. CitizenshipTests.org reserves the right to increase scholarship prize value, in its sole discretion.

    8. REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES AND INDEMNIFICATION

    Entrants represent and warrant that: (i) the entry is Entrant’s original work; (ii) the entry does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity; and (iii) Entrants have obtained written permission from each person whose name, likeness, voice or other intellectual property is used in the entry. Entrants will indemnify and hold harmless, CitizenshipTests.org from any third party claims to the contrary and any third party claims arising out of related Entrants’ Video, Essay or participation in the Scholarship.

    9. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND RELEASE

    CitizenshipTests.org is not responsible for: (i) technical problems or technical malfunction limitations of any Internet Service Provider (“ISP”), servers, hosts or providers; (c) garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; (d) failure of any e-mail transmissions to be sent or received; (e) any inability to upload or download any information in connection with the Scholarship, or (f) inaccessibility of the Website, in whole or in part for any reason; (g) lost, late, delayed, corrupted or intercepted e-mail; (ii) unauthorized human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Scholarship, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; (iii) destruction of any aspect of the Scholarship, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an account used in connection with the Scholarship, including but not limited to, undeliverable contact attempts that result from any form of active or passive e-mail filtering or for insufficient space in Entrant’s account to receive e-mail; (iv) any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the Website; and (v) any personal injury, or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user’s or any other person’s computer equipment resulting from participation in the Scholarship, use of the Website, or the download of any information from the Website. BY ENTERING, EACH ENTRANT AGREES FOR ENTRANT AND FOR ENTRANT’S HEIRS, EXECUTORS, AND ADMINISTRATORS TO RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS CITIZENSHIPTTESTS.ORG AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE AFFILIATES, PARTNERS, OWNERS, FRANCHISEES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS AND EMPLOYEES FROM AND AGAINST ANY LIABILITY, CLAIM OR CAUSE OF ACTION (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES), INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, OR DAMAGE TO OR LOSS OF PROPERTY, WHETHER CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OR NOT, ARISING OUT OF PARTICIPATION IN THE SCHOLARSHIP OR RECEIPT OR USE OR MISUSE OF ANY PORTION OF THE PRIZE, ENTRY OR PARTICIPATION IN THE SCHOLARSHIP OR IN ANY SCHOLARSHIP OR PRIZE-RELATED ACTIVITY, OR ANY ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP WEBSITE, OR ANY CLAIMS BASED ON PUBLICITY RIGHTS, DEFAMATION OR INVASION OF PRIVACY, OR MERCHANDISE DELIVERY.

    10. GENERAL TERMS

    CitizenshipTests.org has the right, but not the obligation, to monitor/screen each submission. If for any reason the Scholarship is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Scholarship. CitizenshipTests.org reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or terminate the Scholarship or any portion thereof. ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS PROMOTION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY FRAUDULENT CLAIMS, MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS – AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, CITIZENSHIPTTESTS.ORG RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH INDIVIDUAL, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION. Proof of making an entry will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by CitizenshipTests.org. Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or like entry methods will void all entries affected by such methods and be deemed tampering. Persons engaging in any of the foregoing activities may be disqualified. Failure of CitizenshipTests.org to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. By participating, Entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of CitizenshipTests.org and judges and waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Scholarship or these Official Rules. CitizenshipTests.org reserves the right to make changes or additions to these Official Rules and/or change the dates of the Scholarship at any time.

    11. CHOICE OF LAW

    This Scholarship is offered only in Canada and the United States and is governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada. By entering, Entrants consent to the jurisdiction and venue of the federal, provincial and local courts located in Ontario for the resolution of any disputes.

    Winners’ names will be posted on the Website after the winners are confirmed.
